Xarelto has been proven to produce harmful, life-threatening side effects in many patients.
Despite knowing that patients who take their anti-coagulant drug Xarelto would be exposed to increased risks of gastrointestinal bleeding, other hemorrhaging, swelling, and even more harmful side effects, the drug’s manufacturers, Bayer and Jaanssen, marketed Xarelto as being superior to warfarin and other traditional anti-coagulant drugs.
The company did not publish any warnings or precautions which identified the dangerous and life-threatening side affects suffered by many Xarelto users.
According to reports by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices complaints started during the first months after the drugs release. Since the drug was launched, there have been more than 2,000 reported cases of people suffering adverse effects due to taking Xarelto, including nearly 200 deaths due to hemorrhaging and related complications.
Originally Xarelto was prescribed as an anti-coagulant for patients following joint replacement surgery. It was later approved as a medicine to reduce risks to persons susceptible to pulmonary embolism, (blood clotting in lungs)* and non-valvular atrial fibrillation (heart rhythm problems).*
Because anti-coagulant requirements vary from patient to patient, Xarelto may have worked well for some patients while bringing disastrous results to others. The most harmful and dangerous side effect is uncontrolled bleeding. Unlike other available anti-coagulants, there is no antidote to stop or control bleeding brought about by Xarelto in one’s system.
Specifically, medical records document the following harmful side effects of Xarelto:
