Zofran® responsible for serious birth defects

Cleft palate, cleft lip and heart problems

Zofran birth defects can have lasting consequences well into your child's teen years and beyond.

Recent studies have shown that babies born to women who took the anti-nausea drug, Zofran, for morning sickness during the first trimester of their pregnancy have more than twice the risk for birth defects than babies born to women who did not take Zofran.

The Baim Law firm is currently investigating strong evidence that Zofran is responsible for birth defects such as cleft palate, cleft lip, and certain heart problems. Learn more about these birth defects.

Zofran illegally promoted as morning sickness treatment by the manufacturer

Zofran was originally developed as a treatment for nausea suffered by cancer patients after chemo treatments. The drug manufacturer, GlaxcoSmithKline, without FDA approval for that use, actively promoted prescribing Zofran for women suffering morning sickness.

As a result of this promotion, GlaxcoSmithKline settled a $2 billion lawsuit which alleged that the company illegally promoted the Zofran as a morning sickness remedy. The settlement did not include compensation to parents of babies born with defects due to taking Zofran.

You may be eligible for compensation

Because the settlement did not include compensation for damages inflicted by Zofran use, you and your child may be legally eligible to be compensated for pain and suffering, medical expenses, emotional distress, loss of income, household accommodations, and other damages caused by using Zofran.
